Tech corner >>> Rain Water Leak
Written 2010-08-12 08:59:35 (28 days)

Hello members,

No new wind screen put in. I believe that screen had not changed since last ten years. As I gave activities list already conducted but without any success. One thing, I noticed during last week rain that driver side glass was misted more than any other glass in the car. Is this sign that door rubber seal not good any more. Can someone kindly suggest any other tip or guide or his experience with identical problem and solution? I am thinking to make couple of holes on the floor to get rid of rain water but this not a solution.

Tech corner >>> Rain Water Leak
Written 2010-07-30 09:14:04 (41 days)

Hi All,

I am having rain water leak problem inside driver footage under the carpet, sometimes I found moisture under hood as well. The following activities already done but still this mystery water leak source has not been found however some members in past advised me for following actions which I already completed but leak is still there.

1. I had sunroof in the space wagon, GLXi which I tried to clear by inserting stiff but flexible cable on all four gutter tubes but could not find significant amount of debris and I also noticed that inserted wire came out from under the wings on both sides at front of vehicle. Already cleared debris around the holes from where rain water should discharge under the bonnet.

2. I also removed the wiper blades and removed the plastic grill to see any debris stuck on the way where rain water suppose to go out from the wind screen etc but that area was completely dry and found free of foreign particles etc.

This is extremely frustrating and pain full experience. Can anyone help and give advice that how can I cure this problem? May be any experience member can share his experience with me to eradicate this water leak permanently. Additionally, now a day whenever we have rain following morning extremely difficult to start the vehicle as well. This vehicle is 1994 Mitsubishi Space wagon, 2 GlXi, petrol with manual transmission. Please help

Tech corner >>> Help the engine will not start!
Written 2010-05-30 16:26:14 (102 days)

The car is a 2000 eclipse gt 3 liter the only mod in this engine compartment is a cold air intake. 129,xxx miles
Let me start from the beginning. My harmonic balancer shattered into pieces. During the replacement the gear driving the timing belt came out. Since the timing belt has not been replaced since ownership I decided to replace it along with the water pump. After setting all the timing marks, everything was reassembled. The engine started on the first try, the fallowing day, car was taken for about an 8 mile test drive. During the ride the engine started over heated for some reason. I stopped and waited for it to cool down and tried to get home, just prior to making it home the top of the radiator blew out. Apparently the radiator cap was malfunctioning. After that I purchased a new radiator and cap. Then I replaced the old radiator/cap with the new ones. During this process I decided to clean the engine bay to rid of all the grease and grime. I used engine cleaner and sprayed it off with water. After installation I blew remained water with compressed air from all components. Then I started engine and it started up without a problem on first try. It ran for several minutes, when all of a sudden it shut off. This has been the last time the engine has run. I have checked the spark/spark plugs which seem to be running fine. I checked fuel pump relays and engine fuses. Also I made sure the fuel pump is pumping the fuel to the engine. Everything seems fine. I tried to spray starting fluid into intake while cranking engine yet nothing happened. I have no idea what to try next or what could possibly have caused this problem. Please give some advice since this car is a daily driver thank you.

My Mitsubishi Space wagon 2.0 GLXi, manual fitted with 4G63 engine stalling at idle. Car is 1994 model. I checked the resistance at close and open position at TPS. My meter read 1.115 K ohms to 5.04 K Ohm at close and open position of butterfly. I suspect this out of specification can someone kindly let me know what should be my reading at close and open position of butterfly? In case I need to adjust the TPS give me some instructions. Many thanks.

Hi Evo,thanks for the quick reply. I can get someone to Ali-weld the crack, but I would rather replace the top plate for peace of mind. If you take a look at the middle picture where the rubber fuel hose connects to the solid fuel union, the crack is where the union screws into the top plate. You can see a small dark grey substance on the top of where the union screws in. The grey stuff is chemical metal put on as a temporary repair to start the car so I can move it out of the garage. I`m starting to think that I will have to find a carb conversion for this engine. I`ve not found anything on the internet that looks like these Mikuni carbs.I`m not an expert on Mitsubishis but I know this is a very good engine.

hmm, it wiill be hard to find...I don't have any idea where you can find the carburator like this.
You can't repair it by welding of the crack? I think, it will be a best way. Do you have a photo of the crack?
